www.vocation.com - I think my family is going to oppose my vocation.

	Rich asks: I have a dilemma. I have told my immediate family that I am returning to the Catholic Church. I have not shared with them that I think I may have a vocation. They are not practicing Catholics, but all made the same comment when I told them, they said, "What? Are you gonna be a Priest now?" When they said this they did it in a joking manner. This has made me feel very uncomfortable. How should I have handled it? At the time I just changed the subject. I do not want to talk about a possible vocation with them until I am sure.
	Dear Rich, So, instead, let me tell you that right now I think you should concentrate on getting back into the knowledge and close personal relationship with Christ in the Eucharist that is the center of our faith. Establish a prayer-life, get back to the Mass and the sacrament of Reconciliation, back into the Gospels, explore the catechism of the Catholic Church, bring Mary into your life. As you do this, Christ will be able to speak to your soul, you will learn to listen to him, and you will gradually find your way to an answer as regards your vocation. The best time and way to tell your family about it is not, in my opinion, a crucial question at this point, and may perhaps be a little premature. Congratulations on your return, welcome home.
