Dear Stacey,

Obviously you are not going to feel thrilled about this in the human sense, so don't expect to. It is a major sacrifice that God is asking of both of you and the only happiness it will bring at this stage will be spiritual. The best way to deal with it is also spiritual. Offer the sacrifice to God, pray and ask him about where he is leading you, and do not get in the way of your friend's decision.

It probably will be prudent to back off and not be with him as much as you have been, even if he wants to. It is better for him as well to realize the practical consequences of what he is deciding for in his life and this will make for a more mature decision on his part.
