How do I explain to my boyfriend that I want to be a sister?

Kathryn asks:

I have been discerning a vocation to religious life as a sister for four years. I am in college going on my third year. My old boyfriend wants to date again and feels that I am his soul mate. My feelings are that I feel called to follow the dear Lord with all my heart. There are so many things the dear Lord has shown me in the last four years that make me feel that yes I am called to be a sister. He says he supports me. He says if I am not meant to be a sister he wants to marry me. hmm My question is how do I explain that I am really looking into being a sister.

Dear Kathryn:

Perhaps you might print out the answer I gave Brigid, then send it to your ex-boyfriend with a note telling him that you are serious about your interest in giving your whole life to Our Lord, and that is why you know dating is not the best for either of you.

God bless.
