Usually the phrase the expression of ones sexual desires refers to the physical expression of love that should rightly take place between a man and a woman joined in marriage. This is the most obvious concrete reality that we voluntarily sacrifice to God with the vow of celibacy. We also offer up and abstain from all the other elements that make up the total reality of human love as it is ordered toward the sacrament of matrimony.

This means that when we are called to celibacy we have to learn to sublimate our sexual drive, rather than to seek ways to express our sexual desires, and to keep absolutely chaste for the Kingdom of God, doing what is impossible for men but possible to God.

The Church gives us many means of support in our effort. We have the Sacraments, especially the Eucharist and Reconciliation, Mary's care, recourse to prayer, good friendships and brotherhood with our confreres.
