Is it common to have a feeling everyday to look into becoming a nun?

Morgan asks:

Every day I have the feeling out of the blue to look into becoming a nun? Is this common or do you think it's a calling? I'm in the military right now and doing very well, but I can't shake the feeling I should be serving God as a nun.

Dear Morgan,

God has all sorts of ways to prod us into looking into the vocation, and what you describe is one of them, the recurring urge to look into it. It does not mean you definitely have a vocation, for God sometimes allows us to have these feelings so we will take a closer look at our lives and go to a new level. But no matter what, it is good to follow up on them. There could just as well be a vocation there.

Dont wait for the thoughts to come back, go right to them in prayer and ask his help as you follow up on them.

God bless.
