Thank you for this follow-up question. By spiritual consecration I mean this: a consecration to Christ that you make in your heart, in your spirit.

A "real" consecration would mean you make formal promises in the presence of someone in authority in the Church that you are going to give yourself totally to Christ by living in poverty, chastity and obedience. When you do that there are consequences, you usually enter to form part of a specific religious group or movement, you accept some type of rule for your life, live under a director, undergo specific formation, etc.

Now if for some reason (your age, a health problem) you want to give yourself to Christ but are not in a position to make a "real" formal consecration, you can choose a special time (a feast day of Our Lady, for example) and at Mass tell Jesus in your soul that you want to give yourself to him completely. Then in your private way (your thoughts, the times you give to prayer, the way you keep your heart for him alone, the time you give to apostolate) you try to live out that promise in a very simple way, full of love, each day. It is just something private and spiritual between you and Jesus, it is not binding like a formal consecration, but it is a beautiful and helpful thing to do if you think you may be called to consecrate yourself to him someday.
